Moorestown NJ, (June 21, 2017) – Tabula Rasa HealthCare Corporation (NASDAQ: TRHC) Chairman and CEO, Calvin H. Knowlton, PhD, received a “Founding Pharmapreneur” Award for Service and Excellence from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in recognition of his entrepreneurial vision and transformational accomplishments. The award was presented at a gala celebrating the School’s 175th Anniversary held May 10 at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
Recipients were chosen to “commemorate their work as unparalleled leaders and innovative examples of successful pharmapreneurisim.” The alumni winners are recognized nationally and internationally for their accomplishments in the pharmacy community.
“Pharmapreneurism” describes the School of Pharmacy’s dedication to ensure its students and faculty “achieve their career aspirations and address our nation’s health care challenges.”

Dr. Knowlton is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC), a healthcare technology company optimizing medication safety by developing new Medication Risk Mitigation™ digital solutions and novel medication decision support tools.
Dr. Knowlton has won numerous awards for his leadership in pharmacy, business, and philanthropy in his career of over 30 years, including the 2003 & 2013 Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Greater Philadelphia Region, and the 2016 Philadelphia Technology CEO of the year. In 2015, Knowlton received the Remington Honor Medal, pharmacy’s highest honor. In 2017, he was elected into the Fellowship of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Contributing to his profession and the community, Dr. Knowlton has served as the national President for the American College of Apothecaries, President of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) for two terms, and President of the American Pharmacists Association Foundation. He is the Board Chair of the Evergreens Continuing Care Retirement Community and serves on the Board of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. He recently finished terms on the Board of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, the Settlement Music School, and the Coriell Institute of Medical Research.
Dr. Knowlton received his Pharmacy degree from Temple University, his Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and his PhD in Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Maryland. He served as Professor and Department Chair for the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in the 1990s. He has authored and co-authored textbooks, book chapters, and articles focused on the role and responsibility of pharmacists in the outcomes of patient-centered medication care.
