U.S. News & World Report sheds light on diabetic comas, including two causes – hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

According to the article, with hypoglycemia, blood sugar levels get below a certain point, and there is not enough blood sugar for the brain’s most basic needs.

TRHC’s Robert Alesiani, Chief Pharmacotherapy Officer, notes, “Systems begin to shut down.”

Robert’s insight also addresses using a blood glucose monitor to determine if someone is hypo- or hyperglycemic.
