RAlesiani-sqDr. Robert L. Alesiani leads the Medication Care Plan Support Center for CareKinesis. He is one of the first clinical pharmacists in the U.S. with training and expertise to provide personalized medicine, in particular, pharmacogenomic testing coordination and translation for people on high-risk medications. A Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP)*, Dr Alesiani recognizes that in order to evaluate the appropriateness of a patient’s drug therapy, a practitioner’s focus must be holistic, managing all the diseases and all of the medicines as a single “matrix” rather than as multiple “one drug to one drug” comparisons.

Dr. Alesiani was also trained as a specialist in end-of-life care and became one of the first clinical pharmacists in the U.S. to focus on hospice care. As Supervisor and Director of the Clinical Care Center for excelleRx from 1996 through July 2007, Dr. Alesiani was responsible for the education and oversight of more than 60 clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. He also was Director of Compounding, responsible for formulating unique dosage forms for medication administration for the hospice patients.

He is an adjunct faculty member of The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Temple University’s Colleges of Pharmacy where he currently serves as preceptor/advisor for Doctor of Pharmacy candidates during their last year of study. He recently was invited to attend a national education program for clinical pharmacists on the emerging field of Pharmacogenomics. Dr. Alesiani received his bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences from The Richard Stockton University of New Jersey, a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (1987) and his doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 2005, where he graduated Cum Laude and received the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s Outstanding Graduating Clinician Award.

He has given lectures on many various topics including, Pain Management, Pharmacogenomics, Management of Gastrointestinal Disorders, Compound Options for the Terminally Ill Patient, New Treatment Options for Hepatitis C, Substance Abuse in the Elderly as well as published on “Pharmacogenomics: The Practice of Medication Prescribing Advances Toward Personalized Therapy”.
